About the artist
origins
I was born in Sassari, Italy, and spent the first 25 years of my life in Alghero, a picturesque seaside town rich in Catalan culture, art, and language.
Alghero, with its rich history, its fishing trade, rugged coastal landscapes, breathtaking sunsets, and warm summer nights graced by the distant sentinel of the town lighthouse,
has inevitably influenced my artistic journey.
For most of my life, I have also been inspired by Sardinian history,
the remains of its Nuragic civilization and of the populations
that have touched its shores over millennia.
At 25 I started a new chapter in the UK.
My fascination with British culture had grown over the years, alongside a
consuming passion for everything dark, gothic, abandoned, forgotten.
The dark, the moody and the sublime
Relocation & Inspiration
My main sources of inspiration at this time were (and still are)
music by Finnish band Sonata Arctica,
the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood,
and the work of gothic illustrator Victoria Francés.
Upon relocating to the UK, I got to see real-life gothic spires, ivy-clad ancient ruins and graveyards, majestic oaks, and serpentine rivers green with vegetation.
The British landscape has offered plenty of raw material to inspire and enrich my artistic path.
In the two years spent living close to nature in the tranquil New Forest countryside, I developed a profound connection with the outdoors, which heightened my fascination with folk music and traditional instruments from all over the world.
